This film takes place in Livorno and Rome, following the life of a war widow and single mother from WWII through the 1970s. In this scene, set during cold and difficult times, the vertical La Pavoni is the heart of the caffè. The machine in this clip is slightly different than the one here at the museum, but was also a widely produced and sold model.
